In 2024 Memory Lane Singing Club won a Barnet Civic Award for Outstanding Service to the Community. We were delighted to receive this recognition for over 30 years of singing and performing.

Memory Lane’s aims are:
- To develop singing skills in a professional, friendly, safe and supportive environment and encourage a sense of belonging.
- To entertain in the community, especially the isolated elderly, the sick and disabled in care homes and day centres.
- To welcome many new members to our singing group and improve their health and well-being.

We are a thriving and enthusiastic group of approximately 30 members who meet weekly on Fridays to enjoy singing under the expert direction of Emma Kershaw.

Emma is a versatile actress and concert artist, who has featured with many well-known orchestras including the BBC Concert Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Emma joined Memory Lane in 2017.
Emma says “I believe music is an incredible therapy and I get a lot out of sharing music with others. The concerts we give in care homes are greatly appreciated. I often see a transformation in the audience before and after we sing. The songs are generally well-known, so to see people’s faces light up and sing along is very special to witness. I firmly believe Memory Lane provides an invaluable contribution to the community. We enhance the health and well-being of singers and audiences alike”.

Our resident pianist is Joseph Morley. He has had a varied career in all forms of popular music and was a West End musical director.
Memory Lane was founded in 1993 by Idit Gold and became a charity in 2003.
